Martinus de Golnow († 1372 ) was canon in Schwerin and council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

According to his original name, Martinus came from Gollnow in Western Pomerania. From 1350 he kept the Lübeck Niederstadtbuch as council secretary and is occupied in Lübeck from October 23, 1362 as a protonotary until he resigned from his office on September 19, 1363. As Schwerin canon he was in the service of the Lübeck council before and after entering the cathedral chapter.

In 1352/53 he was appointed Scholasticus of the Schwerin cathedral chapter by Pope Innocent IV . When describing the Scholstenamt in the Schwerin Statute, the main task in addition to the management of the cathedral school was also activities that fell within the scope of a chancellor and secretary. He held this office until 1369. With this activity it was not surprising that the services of the scholasts were also used outside of the chapter. Mainly due to their experience in law firms, they found additional jobs. After Martinus death, the scholastic office was reassigned in 1372.

From September 3, 1361 until his voluntary resignation on August 11, 1366, Martinus de Golnow was also pastor at the Marienkirche in Wismar .
