Maru Yama ( Japanese 円 山 'round peak' ) is a 273 m high and rocky hill on the Prince Harald Coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises up in the eastern part of the Skarvsnes headland on the banks of the Lützow-Holm-Bucht .
Norwegian cartographers in 1946 used aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 for mapping purposes. Japanese scientists carried out a new mapping based on surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 and 1973. They gave the hill its descriptive name on November 22, 1973.
