Georg Johann von Staal ( Russian Егор Фёдорович Сталь Yegor Fyodorovich Staal * October 17 jul. / 28. October  1777 greg. In Haehl ; † October 23 jul. / 4. November  1862 greg. In Reval ) was a Russian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Georg, owner of the Rayküll manor , was a member of the Estonian noble family von Staal . His parents were Friedrich von Staal (1733-1801) and Margaretha Elisabeth, born Baroness von Fock (1751-1808). He himself married Amalie Julie von Lilienfeld (1801–1861), a daughter of the Estonian knight governor and district administrator Georg Woldemar von Lilienfeld (1772–1835). The marriage resulted in seven children.

Career

Staal served as an officer in the Imperial Russian Army . In 1803 he was a lieutenant colonel in the Pavlograd Hussar Regiment . On January 12, 1806 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class and in 1811 became colonel . He fought in the coalition and liberation wars , received the Order of St. George IV on November 22, 1812, and was promoted to major general in 1813. In 1815 he was brigadier of the 4th Dragoons - Division and has 1816 his farewell get.

Staal was also the bearer of the Order of St. Anna II. Class, the Golden Sword for Bravery with Diamonds, the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class and the Order of the Sword .
