Marvin Davis

Marvin Davis (born August 31, 1925 in Newark , New Jersey , USA, † September 25, 2004 in Beverly Hills ) was an American entrepreneur and multi-billionaire.

He was considered by Forbes to be one of the richest people in the world with an estimated net worth of $ 4.9 billion. He came to the fortune through the oil and natural gas exploration company Davis Oil Company , which he founded with his father, and was nicknamed Mr. Wildcatter (= American oil explorer).

In 1981 he bought the film studio 20th Century Fox with Marc Rich and sold it to Rupert Murdoch in 1985 . He is the father of film producer John Davis .
