Mary Zygouri

Mary Zygouri (* 1973 in Athens ) is a Greek performance artist .

life and work

Mary Zygouri studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts from 1995 . After completing her bachelor's degree in 2000, she went on to do a post-graduate course . She obtained her Masters in 2003 from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. She lives and works in Greece and Italy.

Her performances, based on thorough research, mainly take place in public spaces. The environment and the rooms in which it occurs vary in form, use and function. A hammam , a garden, a train station, a circus , a monastery, a square or a poultry farm are some examples of places that she uses. Sometimes performances are shown at exhibitions and sometimes videos of past performances in other locations.
