The Marzahn bridges are a multi-part and often elevated complex road bridge structure in the course of Landsberger Allee in the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf . In three construction phases, they cross two separate track systems (long-distance train and S-Bahn) with an industrial road running in between, as well as Märkische Allee , a section of federal highway 158 .
Construction and construction description
The construction period for the bridges coincides with the start of the construction of the new districts of Berlin-Marzahn and Berlin-Hellersdorf and is between 1975 and 1977. Before that there was a level overpass with the Berlin outer ring and the Wriezener Bahn , the corresponding section of the street was called Berliner Chaussee .
In terms of bridges, the resulting complex is a multi-span prestressed concrete precast construction as a beam structure reinforced with edge girders . The bridges, between 37 and 39.70 meters wide, consist of a compact western section of the bridge and an adjoining eastern section of the bridge running in two separate structures. The bridge supports of the western section are 144 meters long, the middle pair of bridges is 113 meters and the eastern pair is about 80 meters long. Together with the heaped up road embankments, a stretch of road more than 800 meters long will be created. In addition to a footpath / cycle path, the bridges each have at least two lanes in each direction, which are connected to Märkische Allee in a motorway-like manner. To the north of the western road bridge runs a tram bridge under the responsibility of the BVG , which is used by lines M6 and 16.
In the mid-1990s, the Berlin Senate commissioned extensive renovation of the road bridges. Under the direction of civil engineer Gerald Hanisch, the Cologne-based specialist company vdw Gebrüder von den Wetter carried out sealing and renovations of the road surfaces , the concrete damage was removed and structural additions made. A weather-resistant surface protection completed the work, which cost a total of 5.8 million DM .
In 2007/2008, a connecting road for cyclists to the Georg Knorr industrial park was built on the north-western section of the Marzahn bridges.
Incidents
In February 2009, a heavy truck rammed a tram on the bridge, which was pushed off its tracks, people were not injured.
