Masagos Zulkifli (2006)

Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad ( Chinese  马 善 高 , Tamil மசகோஸ் ஜுல்கிஃபிலி ; * April 16, 1963 ) is a politician of the People's Action Party (PAP) in Singapore , who has been a member of parliament since 2006 and has been a minister several times. Since 2015 he has been Minister for Environment and Water Management and Minister for Muslim Affairs.

Life

After attending Bukit Panjang Government High School and the National Junior College, Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad began studying electrical engineering at Nanyang Technological University , graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Electrical Engineering) with distinction . He then began his professional career at the telecommunications company SingTel ( Singapore Telecommunications ) and during this time completed postgraduate studies in electrical engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), founded in 1905, and completed this in 1994 with a Master of Science (M.Sc. Electrical Engineering). With a scholarship from SingTel, he completed another postgraduate scholarship in business administration at the University of Southern California , which he completed with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). During his work for Singapore Telecommunications, he was a manager in the representations in Ujung Padang in Indonesia and in Sydney in Australia , before he was most recently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SingTel for the foreign representations (Global Offices) .

On May 6, 2006 Masagos Zulkifli became a member of parliament for the People's Action Party (PAP) in the Tampines GRC Group Representation Constituency and has represented this constituency ever since. During his long membership in parliament, he was a member of various parliamentary committees. Shortly after his election, he took over his first government office in the cabinet of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and served as Senior Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Education between May 30, 2006 and October 31, 2010 and also from April 1, 2008 to October 31 2010 as Senior Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior. He was then Minister of State in the Ministry of Education between November 1, 2010 and May 20, 2011, and Minister of State in the Ministry of the Interior from November 1, 2010 to July 31, 2012. Between May 21, 2011 and July 31, 2012, he acted first as Minister of State and then from August 1, 2012 to April 8, 2015 as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, between August 1, 2012 and April 8, 2015, he also served as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of the Interior.

Thereupon Masagos Zulkifli held from April 9 to September 30, 2015 in personal union both as second foreign minister and second interior minister as well as minister in the office of the prime minister. Since October 1, 2015, he has been Minister for the Environment and Water Resources . In addition, since May 1, 2018, he has also served as Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs in the Lee Hsien Loong cabinet .

His marriage to Jumelah Binte Ja'afar had four children.
