Masakazu Nishimine

Masakazu Nishimine ( Japanese 西峯 正 員 , Nishimine Masakazu ; * 1954 in Kōchi , Kōchi Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese percussionist whose main focus is in Bremen .

Life

Nishimine originally learned the clarinet and graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo . In 1978 he came to Germany to continue his education, but soon turned to studying percussion instruments, which he successfully completed in 1988. Engagements as a classical timpanist followed , u. a. at the opera of the Bremen theater .

He taught as a visiting professor at the University of the Arts in Bremen .

In the mid-1990s, Nishimine found the traditional Japanese art of drumming and founded the group Massa Daiko in 1996 , with which he still performs regularly today.
