Masanobu Andō ( Japanese 安藤 政 信 , Andō Masanobu ; born May 19, 1975 in Kawasaki ) is a Japanese actor and director.

Life

Andō made his breakthrough as an actor in 1996 with Kids Return , a film by Takeshi Kitano , for which he received the Japanese Academy Award in 1997 for best young actor . This was followed by a variety of different roles, such as that of a robber in Space Travelers (2000) and Drive (2002), a doctor in Transparent (2001), a ninja in Red Shadow (2001) or even a corpse in Monday (2000 ). He is best known to German fans as Kazuo Kiriyama , the heartless psychopath from Kinji Fukasaku's cult film Battle Royale (2000).

In 2003 he worked as a director for the film Adagietto. Very slowly .
