Mascha Santschi Kallay

Mascha Mila Santschi Kallay (born September 20, 1980 as Mascha Mila Santschi in Bern ) is a Swiss lawyer and attorney . She is President of the Independent Appeals Board for Radio and Television .

Life

Mascha Santschi Kallay studied law at the University of Bern , was admitted to the bar of the Canton of Lucerne and received her doctorate in 2018 on the subject of “External Communication of Courts” at the University of Zurich (“ magna cum laude ”). After several years as a clerk at the higher court of the canton of Lucerne, she took over the newly created position as information officer for the cantonal judiciary and was responsible for internal and external communication of the Lucerne courts, arbitration authorities, land registry offices and bankruptcy offices until 2014.

Since 2015 she has been co-owner of Santschi & Felber JustizKommunikation GmbH together with Markus Felber . The duo works in the intersection of law and communication as well as strategic legal communication. Santschi Kallay has been a consultant at the law firm epartners since 2018. In addition to her legal training, she worked for various national and regional print and electronic media between 2000 and 2009, including eight years as an editor and presenter for Radio BeO in Interlaken / Thun. She has been a board member of the KKL Luzern since 2016 .

In November 2018, the Federal Council elected her to succeed Vincent Augustin as President of the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) on January 1, 2019. She has been a member of the UBI since 2016.

Private

In 2000 Mascha Santschi came second in the Miss Switzerland election and won the Miss Bern election. She has been married to manager Daniel Kallay since 2010 and has two daughters. In the community where she lived in Meggen LU , she was a member of the party leadership of the CVP for several years .
