Maschpark Bridge
The Maschteich Bridge in Hanover , also called Maschbrücke and Maschpark Bridge , is a listed bridge for walkers in the Maschpark . The arched bridge over the Maschteich in the public green space behind the New Town Hall, which was laid out around 1900, was a popular destination for couples who wanted to attach a love lock here , which damaged the delicate leaf ornaments on the wrought iron railing.
In January 2016, the city had all love locks removed and the historic metal railings restored and repainted for around 7,000 euros. The installation of new locks on the listed building is prohibited, but Hanover expressly offers couples in love the long railing on the north bank of the nearby Maschsee via the website hannover.de .
For the 130th anniversary of the Kröpcke clock's installation and the 20th anniversary of the founding date of the Kröpcke-Kultur art initiative , the Hanoverian artist Joy Lohmann installed some of the red love locks dismantled from the Maschbrücke in April 2015 and arranged them to form a heart-shaped sculpture in the also as Exhibition - showcase used grandfather clock at Kröpcke .
