Mashta al-Helou ( Arabic مشتى الحلو, DMG Maštā l-Ḥalū ), also Maschtal Helo or Maschta , is a small town in the governorate of Tartus in western Syria . The mountain resort at 560 meters above sea level has been developed as a summer resort and has around 3500 inhabitants, a large number of whom are Christians.

Mashta al-Helou belongs to the Safita district and is located in the southern foothills of the Jebel Ansariye . A few kilometers east of the village, the side road coming from Safita joins the north-south running road between Masyaf and Krak des Chevaliers . The distance to Damascus is about 220 kilometers, that to Tartus 55 kilometers.

The total area of ​​Mashta is approximately 490 hectares. Due to the location in the mountains, there is a mountain climate. So it is moderately warm in summer while it is cold in winter. It can snow on some winter days. The city offers a tourist offer with several hotels and opportunities for hiking in the vicinity.
