Mount Massell is a 1,880 m high mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Freyberg Mountains it rises 10 km southeast of Mount Jackman .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1969 after the geophysicist Wulf Friedrich Massell (* 1943), manager of the biological, from Germany Laboratories at McMurdo Station in 1967.
