history

Founded in 1983, the company is one of the oldest companies in the PC-based CAD / CAM industry. The company was built on the concept of supplying a CAM system based on the personal computer . This happened at a time when most other systems were largely CAD- oriented products. Mastercam was one of the first micro-based CAM packages to include CAD capabilities that allowed users to quickly and easily design their own parts, and was designed for both machine workers and engineers. The original version of Mastercam was based in two-dimensional (2D) CAM.

Shortly after CNC Software began operations in Massachusetts in 1983 , the company relocated to an office in Vernon , Connecticut. Today, the headquarters and training facility are housed in a company-owned 5,000 square meter building in Tolland , Connecticut. In addition to the more than 150 employees there, CNC Software also operates an office in Washington, DC for the education market. The Mastercam software is sold worldwide exclusively through authorized resellers and sales partners.
