Mast trucks
The Mastkraftwagen is an emergency vehicle of the technical relief organization (THW), which is used as a vehicle of the specialist group leadership / communication (FGr FK) in the long-distance troop (WvTr). It has a telescopic mast that can be extended to a height of 45 meters.
A mast car is used to implement temporary relay radio stations and to set up radio links. Since May 2006 this new THW technology has been handed over to 8 local associations nationwide, one for each regional association ( Hamburg-Harburg , Lehrte , Gelnhausen , Potsdam , Münster , Dresden , Bavaria and Ofterdingen ).
At the World Youth Day in Cologne in 2005, the mast trucks were used for the first time.
