Mathias "Matias" Gustav Gotthold Leo Stinnes (* 27. June 1910 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was an ethnic German luger who launched internationally for Argentina.
Mathias Stinnes was a Wehrmacht officer and also had a fascist outlook . After the end of the Second World War , like many other old Nazis, he emigrated to Argentina. There he founded a luge association, of which he was the only member for a long time, also as president, of which he was the managing director and head coach.
At the age of 53 years and 217 days, Stinnes was the oldest participant in the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . However, he could not finish the first-time competition in the single-seater and was eliminated from the competition. Stinnes was also qualified and registered for the single-seater luge competition at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , but did not take part in the competition. At 57 he would have become one of the oldest winter Olympians ever.
