Mount Mateer is a mountain in the East Antarctic Enderbyland . It rises 1.5 km east of Mount Degerfeldt in the Tula Mountains .
It was mapped using aerial photographs taken by members of a team on the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions in 1956 and 1957. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named the mountain after Norman Cooper Mateer (1885-1979), British crew member of the RSS Discovery on the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE, 1929-1931) headed by the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson .
