Mathilde, the non-commercial women's magazine from Darmstadt ( proper spelling : MATHILDE ; initially with the addition of a women's newspaper for Darmstadt and the region ), is a magazine for women who, according to their own presentation, serve the “interests of women and the improvement of their situation, but also for theirs Entertainment and information should contribute ”.

After about a year in advance, the magazine appeared for the first time in November 1992 ; The first editorial collective included Anja Spangenberg and Barbara Obermüller. Each issue has a thematic focus, book reviews and event information and is produced by a group of volunteer women without an editor-in-chief. Mathilde belongs to the group of regional women's magazines that were created in connection with an urban women's project culture and are supported by this. It is her concern to report on topics "which interest women more and which are neglected in public"; it can thus be assigned to the magazines that want to offer a regional counter-public. Originally diverse, Mathilde is one of the few projects that still exist and whose existence is often overlooked. After 25 years of regular publication, Mathilde was discontinued with the November / December 2017 issue.

With the March / April 2018 issue, the magazine starts again.
