The philosopher (title addition: Forum for Feminist Theory and Philosophy ) was a magazine for philosophy and feminist theory. It appeared from 1990 to 2005 in 32 issues every six months. The aim of the magazine was to address philosophical issues from a feminist perspective. The intention was to contribute to the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of research on genealogy and the function of gender difference .

The philosopher was founded and published by Ursula Konnertz and Astrid Deuber-Mankowsky . As the impetus for founding their own magazine, they cite their experience of gender blindness in academic philosophy in their own philosophical university courses in the late 1970s and 1980s.

The authors who published articles in Die Philosophin also include Susanne Baer , Anna Bergmann , Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak , Gabriele Dietze , Esther Dischereit , Hille Haker , Sabine Hark , Susan Neiman , Ute Planert and Susanne Schröter . Conversations have been published with Karl-Otto Apel , Anne Fausto-Sterling , Sybille Krämer and Gesa Lindemann , among others .
