Gabriele Dietze (* 1951 in Wiesbaden ) is a German cultural scientist , university professor , gender theorist, essayist and author .

Live and act

Gabriele Dietze studied philosophy , German literature and sociology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where in 1977 she was a literary scholar with her work The Moment of Sensuality in the Genesis of Bourgeois Self-Consciousness in the German Storm and Drang, where she obtained a Magister Artium in Modern German Philology acquired.

In 1979 she got the first German anthology of theoretical writings from the new women's movement with The Overcoming of Speechlessness . From 1980 to 1991 she worked as editor-in-chief at Rotbuch Verlag in Berlin . From 1987 to 2001 she was the editor of the Rotbuch crime series and worked as a freelance author, essayist and literary critic .

In 1996 the doctorate to Dr. phil. with the dissertation Genre and Gender. Gender relations in the American private detective novel in American studies with a focus on cultural studies at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin . In 2003 she studied American Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin with the work Justice Negotiating.
