Mathilde Prager

Mathilde Prager , pseudonym Erich Holm, (born January 3, 1844 as Mathilde Lucca or Lucka in Prague , † February 7, 1921 in Vienna ) was an Austrian literary scholar , narrator and translator .

Life and works

Mathilde Prager, daughter of the Marienbad doctor Dr. Lucca, married Prof. MJ Prager in 1872 and soon widowed. She lived in Vienna and worked as a literary critic and translator. After some translations from English, Prager devoted himself to Scandinavian and mainly translated the works of the Danish literary historian Georg Brandes as well as a volume of short stories by August Strindberg .

Prager worked for the magazine for literature at home and abroad , for the Neue Freie Presse , Gegenwart , Neue Revue , Nation and others. In addition, Prague wrote his own short stories and fairy tale games as well as literary writings on Henrik Ibsen's political legacy and studies on his last four dramas.
