Mathis Künzler

Mathis Künzler (born June 13, 1978 in Basel ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Mathis Künzler grew up in Münchenstein and played in the children's theater in Basel as a child. After secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a metalworker in Muttenz (1995–1999).

After participating in various plays such as Brambilla at the ROXY Theater in Birsfelden in 1999 and Edna Mazya's Swing at the Basel Junge Theater in 2000 , he studied drama at the Zurich University of the Arts (Diploma 2005).

During his studies and afterwards he worked in various short films and plays.

Immediately after graduating from the ZHdK, Mathis Künzler took on his first leading TV role in Sat.1 - Telenovela Verliebt in Berlin (2004–2006).

After this TV engagement, Mathis Künzler returned to the theater stage. At the beginning of 2007 he played the roles of Balzi and Wassilissa in the play Quatemberkinder in a stage version by Jonas Knecht and Anja Horst.

In March 2007, Dinosaurs forever! , a production by “gerber und luz theaterproduktionen”. The play was developed by Markus Gerber and Thom Luz and directed by Heike Marianne Götze. Premiered Dinosaurs forever! in the factory theater Rote Fabrik Zurich . The production was invited to the Zürcher Theater Spektakel 2007. Various guest appearances at home and abroad followed.

Mathis Künzler took on his second television role with the role of forensic technician and terrorism expert Marcus Heuser in the Sat.1 series R.I.S. - The Language of the Dead .

Further theater and film roles followed; The Swiss theatrical release of the film Robbers , directed by Carla Lia Monti, will take place on June 4, 2009.

Mathis Künzler will return to television screens in July 2009 with the weekly ARD production Geld.Macht.Liebe . He lives as a freelance theater, film and television actor in Berlin .
