The Matochina Peak (English; Bulgarian връх Маточина wrach Matotschina ) is a 750 m high mountain on Smith Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises 3.4 km west-southwest of Cape Smith and 3.2 km northeast of Mount Christi on the northern foothills of the Imeon Range . The Saparewo Glacier lies to the west and southwest of it.
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in 2008. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in the same year after the medieval Matochina fortress in southeastern Bulgaria .
