Kenta Matsunami ( Japanese 松 浪 健 太 , Matsunami Kenta ; born August 17, 1971 in Osaka prefecture ) is a Japanese politician ( Liberal Democratic PartyNippon Ishin no KaiIshin no TōŌsaka → Nippon Ishin no Kai ) and member of the Shūgiin , of the House of Commons.

Life

Matsunami graduated from Waseda University in 1997 ; he had spent a year as an intern in Australia. He then worked for the Sankei Shimbun . Matsunami was elected to Shūgiin for the first time in 2002 for the resigned MP Kiyomi Tsujimoto in the 10th constituency of Osaka for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) . After being voted out of office in 2003 , he was able to win back the seat in the 2005 Shūgiin election .

Under Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda , Matsunami was first parliamentary secretary ( seimukan ) in the MHLW from 2007 , then in the cabinet office from August 2008 . Under Prime Minister Tarō Asō he initially retained this position, but was dismissed in January 2009 after he had left the Shūgiin session on the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2008 (until March 31, 2009) and had not voted for it. Matsunami justified the move by rejecting the payment of 2 trillion yen as a consumption stimulus to households.

In the LDP election defeat in 2009 , Matsunami lost his constituency again and was only re-elected through the Kinki proportional representation. In the LDP he belonged to the Ibuki faction until 2010 . In 2012 he left the LDP and joined the Nippon Ishin no Kai of Tōru Hashimoto , the mayor of Osaka City and former governor of Osaka.
