Kiyomi Tsujimoto
Kiyomi Tsujimoto ( Japanese 辻 元 清 美 Tsujimoto Kiyomi ; born April 28, 1960 in Ōyodo , Nara Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician ( SDP → independent → SDP → independent → DPJ → DFP → KDP ) and a member of the Shūgiin , the lower house for the Osaka constituency 10 .
Life
Tsujimoto was born in Nara, grew up in Osaka , attended high school in Nagoya and then studied at the Faculty of Education at Waseda University . During her studies, she helped found Peace Boat ( ピ ー ス ボ ー ト pīsubōto ), a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is internationally committed to peace, human rights and environmental protection. Even after graduating, she remained active for Peace Boat, and in 1992 she took part in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development as an NGO representative .
In the Shūgiin election in 1996 , Tsujimoto took up position as a candidate in the Kinki proportional representation block on the list of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) founded in the same year and was certainly elected. In 2000 she entered the 10th constituency of Osaka for the first time, which particularly includes the city of Takatsuki in the north of the prefecture, and was able to beat the Kōmeitō office holder Kazu Ishigaki with less than a thousand votes.
In March 2002 it became public that Tsujimoto had actually spent only a fraction of her declared expenses for secretary salaries - paid by the state - for this purpose. She resigned that same month, in August 2002 the Tokyo District Attorney opened an investigation into fraud and in 2003 she was given a suspended sentence. In 2004 , Tsujimoto ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate for the Sangiin , the upper house: in the Osaka prefecture (three seats), she received 718,125 votes and thus missed the third-highest percentage of votes by only around 17,000 votes. In the Shūgiin election in 2005 , she stood again for the SDP in the 10th constituency of Osaka. Although she was defeated by Kenta Matsunami ( LDP ), she was re-elected in the Kinki proportional representation block as the best constituency loser of the four candidates on the SDP list.
In 2009 Tsujimoto was able to win back her constituency, now with the support of the Democratic Party and the New People's Party . In September, a coalition led by the Democrats took over the government, and Tsujimoto became State Secretary ( fuku-daijin , "Vice Minister") for land, infrastructure and transport in the Hatoyama cabinet . After the dispute over the whereabouts of a US military base in Okinawa, the SDP decided to leave the coalition. Tsujimoto announced her resignation as State Secretary on May 30, 2010. In August 2010 she left the SDP and the party waived disciplinary measures. A little later she joined the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party. In the Shūgiin election in 2012 , she just lost her constituency again to Kenta Matsunami (now Nippon Ishin no Kai ), but reached third place on the democratic list in Kinki and again won a proportional representation. In 2014 she prevailed again in Osaka 10 with 34.3% of the vote against Kazuhide Ōkuma (LDP) and Matsunami (now Ishin no Tō ) and thus won the prefectural only constituency for the Democrats.
In view of the 2017 Shūgiin election , Tsujimoto switched to the recently founded Constitutional Democratic Party and was appointed chairman of the Committee for Parliamentary Affairs ( 国会 対 策 委員会 Kokkai Taisaku Iinkai ). In September 2019, she was replaced by Jun Azumi .
