Matsuri Hino ( Japanese 樋 野 ま つ り , Hino Matsuri ; born January 24, 19xx in Sapporo , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese manga artist whose works are aimed at young girls and can be assigned to the Shōjo genre. She works for the Hakusensha publishing house.

Before she published her first manga in the manga magazine LaLa in June 1995 with the 16-page short story Kisu no honto no imi wo oshiete , she had worked in a bookstore. She had chosen this career path just nine months before her debut as a professional draftsman. For her first work, she won the 40th LMS Diamond Rookie Shō , a prize to promote talented young mangaka. This was followed by the 40-page work Kono Yume ga Sametara for the magazine LaLa DX , for which she received another award, the ninth LMG Gold Debut Shō , a prize for outstanding first publications by Japanese comic artists.

In the following years she drew other short mangas for LaLa and LaLa DX before starting her first series, Toraware no Mi no Ue, in February 1999 . The manga about a girl whose family is cursed for stealing an ancestor ended in 2002 after more than 850 pages. A short time later, the first chapter of her next manga, Merupuri - The Prince Charming in LaLa, was published, which was told in over 700 pages about a girl longing for a Prince Charming and translated into French, English and German, among other things.

Since November 2004, Hino has been working for LaLa on Vampire Knight , which takes place in a school that has normal classes during the day but which teaches vampires at night. The manga is her biggest success to date; it is being implemented as an anime television series, has sold over two million copies to date and is being translated into several languages.
