Matthew A. Kaplinski (* around 1970) is an American geologist at Northern Arizona University , who became known for his participation in television documentaries.

Life

Matt Kaplinski spent 28 years in the Grand Canyon as an explorer and river guide . His research focuses on studying the effects of currents from the Glen Canyon Dam on the sedimentary resources of the Colorado River . He has been researching and mapping the sandbanks and sediment resources there since 1990 .

Kaplinski was a boat operator in the film Into the Wild and in several scientific books about the Grand Canyon . He became famous in Germany through a television documentary in the series Countries - People - Adventure .

Matt Kaplinski lives near Flagstaff with his wife and daughter Anya Kaplinski .
