Christian Schacherreiter (born June 22, 1954 in Linz ) is an Austrian Germanist , author and literary critic .

Career

He grew up in the Innviertel and attended the humanistic high school in Ried im Innkreis . After graduating from high school in 1972, he studied violin at the Salzburg Mozarteum (not completed) and studied German and history in Salzburg.

Since 1978 he was AHS teacher for German and history, from 2002 to 2016 director of the Georg von Peuerbach-Gymnasium Linz / Urfahr. Since 1987 he has been a lecturer in literary studies at the Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz . Schacherreiter was editor of the German didactics magazine GERM at the Federal Pedagogical Institute in Upper Austria. from 1989 to 2001, member of the advisory board of the didactic magazine “ide” until 2013, co-founder and editor of the educational magazine “AHAes” (from 1998 to 2002, together with Gerhard Zenaty) and he is the author of textbooks for Veritas Verlag, a. a. "Das Literaturbuch" (together with Ulrike Schacherreiter).

Between 1977 and 1993 he was successful as a cabaret artist (focus on cabaret song) together with the musician Gerald Fratt , awarded the Rauris Literature Days Promotion Prize for literary chanson (1976), the " Salzburger Stier " in 1982 and the Reading Circle Prize of the Wiener Zeitung in 1986 (for short prose).

From 1982 to 1992 Schacherreiter was a freelancer in the literature and radio play department at ORF Upper Austria. He is a member of the Adalbert Stifter Institute .

Since 1999 he has been a freelance columnist , literature and music critic for the Upper Austrian News . He also published a large number of articles, mainly on literature, language and their didactics. Since 2010, Schacherreiter has increasingly devoted himself to literary writing. His books are published by Otto Müller Verlag Salzburg.
