Matthäus Brandtner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matthäus Brandtner was a German organ builder in Thorn in Royal Prussia in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Life

The earliest mention of Matthäus Brandtner is from 1685 when the organ was built in Thorn. At that time he lived in the city. From the following decades, some new organs and reconstructions as well as repairs are known. Since Matthias Brandtner was named for the first time in 1726 , this could have been a son and successor. The time of the transition cannot be determined. Work by a Brandtner is known for the last time from 1737.

Organs (selection)

Some new organs and conversions by Matthäus Brandtner are known (selection). The side organ in St. John's Cathedral in Toruń is partially preserved, as one of the oldest in Poland, as are the brochures in Sandomierz and Topolno, the latter is attributed to Brandtner, each in bold.
