Matthew G. Olsen (born February 21, 1962 , presumably in Fargo , ND , USA ) is an American attorney and former director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC).

On July 1, 2011, US President Barack Obama nominated him as director of the NCTC . The Senate confirmed his appointment on August 16, 2011. In July 2014, Olsen announced his resignation for personal reasons. In September 2014 he resigned from office.

Private

Olsen lives in Kensington , Maryland , is married with three children: a girl and two boys.
