Matthew Hale

Matthew Hale (born November 1, 1609 in Alderley , Gloucestershire , † December 25, 1676 ibid) was a legal scholar and statesman.

Matthew Hale became trustee under Charles I , sergeant at law in 1652, and judge of common pleas in 1653. In 1671 he was appointed Lord Chief Justice at Kingsbench by Charles II .
