Matthew J. Arlidge (* 1974 in London ) is a British author of crime novels , screenplays and radio plays .

Early life

Matthew J. Arlidge was born in London in 1974, the youngest of four siblings. He grew up in Hampstead (London) and attended University College School until 1992. After finishing school, he worked as a teacher in India and lived briefly in Singapore and Australia . He then studied English literature at St John's College (Cambridge) . During his studies in Cambridge, he met his future wife, won the Douglas Chivers Prize for Outstanding Shakespeare and learned how to steer punting boats . He later studied film and television at the University of Bristol for a year .

Screenwriter

In the 2000s, Matthew J. Arlidge worked as a screenwriter for British television, starting in 2007 with his own production company.

Crime writer

Matthew J. Arlidge has been publishing detective novels since 2014. In the series around the criminal investigator Helen Grace , who solves serial murders in Southampton and the surrounding area with her team , seven novels have been published so far:

Radio play author

In 2015 Matthew J. Arlidge wrote the ten-part radio play "Six Degrees of Assassination" for the US audio book publisher Audible . The radio play is about the assassination of the British Prime Minister and its aftermath and was broadcast on BBC Radio with great success .
