Matthew Jurman (born December 8, 1989 in Wollongong ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Jurman attended the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 2007 and signed a short-term contract with Sydney FC in September 2007 as some of the club's players were with the national team. After the contract expired, he returned to the AIS. He then played for the Sydney Olympic in the New South Wales Premier League before signing a contract with Sydney FC in the summer of 2008 as a youth player for the newly created National Youth League . Although primarily intended for the youth team with which he won the championship in the premiere season, he completed a total of six appearances for the professional team in the A-League in the 2008/09 season . Jurman is mostly called up as a left or center defender.

In 2008 Jurman was part of the squad for the Australian U-20 selection at the U-19 Asian Cup . When reaching the semifinals Jurman came to two missions for the Young Socceroos and thus managed to qualify for the 2009 Junior World Cup in Egypt. Jurman was also part of the squad at the World Cup finals and made two appearances in the preliminary round.
