Matthias Armgardt

Matthias Armgardt (* 1968 in Arnsberg ) is a German lawyer and professor at the University of Konstanz .

Life

After graduating from high school Laurentianum in Arnsberg in 1988, Armgardt began studying law in 1989 at the University of Bochum , where he worked as a research assistant to Hermann Dilcher . Armgardt later moved to the University of Cologne , where he passed his first state examination in law in 1995. He then worked as a research assistant for Klaus Luig in Cologne, where he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1999 Armgardt passed his second state examination at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court . He then worked as a partner in a commercial law firm. In 2005 Armgardt returned to his scientific career and from then on worked as a scientific assistant to Christoph Krampe at the University of Bochum. Two years later, however, he completed his habilitation with Klaus Luig in Cologne. Armgardt was thus awarded the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, ancient legal history, Roman law and modern history of private law.

From 2008 to 2009 Armgardt held a chair at the Leopold Wenger Institute at the University of Munich . Since the winter semester 2009/10 he has held the chair for civil law, ancient legal history, Roman law and modern history of private law at the University of Konstanz , and since 2012 Vice-Rector for Teaching.
