Matthias Burisch

Matthias Burisch (* 1944 ) is a German psychologist .

Burisch studied psychology in Hamburg and in 1971 became a scientific employee in the department "Psychological Methodology and Applied Psychology", where he received his doctorate and habilitation . In 1982 he founded the practice focus " Organizational and Personnel Development ", which he headed until 1992. He later took over the management of the department and was responsible for methodology in the psychology course. He was a professor at the University of Hamburg.

Burisch published studies on topics of psychological test construction and methodological aspects of research, but was particularly known for his studies on burnout syndrome . He is the author of the scientific standard work of the same name (1st edition 1989) as well as numerous individual studies on this topic.

In addition to his university activities, Matthias Burisch works as a consultant, trainer and coach for psychologists and managers. He is particularly dedicated to the topics of burnout prophylaxis, so-called energy management, resilience , communication and cooperation in everyday professional life.
