Matthias Cuntz (born May 4, 1990 in Karlsruhe ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The son of the former KSC professional Günther Cuntz began playing football as a child in Karlsruhe at SpVgg Durlach -Aue. At the age of nine he moved to Karlsruher SC . He played very successfully in the club's youth teams and attended the Otto Hahn Gymnasium, which is linked to the KSC as a talent development school. At the international U-12 Junior Adidas Cup, which the KSC youth won in 2002, he was named the best player and in 2004 he was even used in the DFB's U-15 national team. The Karlsruhe young hope was also invited to higher DFB selections, but he did not come to any further use.

After Cuntz was promoted to U19 of the club, he switched to the second team of KSC and was already included as a supplementary player in the squad of the professional team in the 2nd Bundesliga in the second half of the season . When Marco Engelhardt ran the risk of being sent off in the game against FC St. Pauli on matchday 21 , he was replaced in the 61st minute and Cuntz made his first professional appearance.

In the summer of 2012, Cuntz moved to the Austrian second division club SCR Altach . After a year and 16 missions, he left Austria again and joined the regional league team Eintracht Trier . After three seasons with SV Elversberg in the Regionalliga Südwest , Cuntz moved to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg for FC Nöttingen in the summer of 2017 . There Cuntz received a three-year contract. Due to health problems (hip), he terminated his contract at the end of February 2018 and ended his career.
