Matthias Hofmann

Matthias Hofmann (* 1974 in Mainz ) is a German alternative school educator , mediator and author .

Life

In 1995 Hofmann graduated from high school and, after doing community service, studied education at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . During and after his studies he worked as a social worker , tutor, special education teacher and as a youth carer. From 2004 to 2014 he worked as a teacher in free alternative schools. From 2011 to 2013 Matthias Hofmann was on the board of the Federal Association of Free Alternative Schools (BFAS). He accompanies start-up initiatives of alternative schools in conceptual questions. From 2013 to 2018 he was a lecturer at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in the field of education and training.

Matthias Hofmann writes books and specialist articles on alternative schools and Kurdistan . He is co-founder of the initiative 'Eine Schule für Kobane ', which aims to support the reconstruction of the educational sector in the northern Syrian city of Kobanê in western Kurdistan / Rojava.
