Matthias Kaiser (dramaturge)

Matthias Kaiser (* 1956 in Bremen ) is a German dramaturge , director , librettist and opera director.

Matthias Kaiser graduated from Götz Friedrich's directing class at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama and graduated in 1982 as a musical theater director.

He then worked as a music dramaturge and public relations officer at the Heidelberg City Theater . In 1989 he became dramaturge for opera , drama and ballet at the Darmstadt State Theater .

From 1991 Matthias Kaiser worked as a dramaturge, speaker and director at the music theater in Saarbrücken . As a dramaturge he was responsible for over 100 productions and worked as an author and dramaturge with the choreographer and ballet director Birgit Scherzer . In 1998 he became opera director at the Saarland State Theater.

He also worked for the Komische Oper Berlin , the Aalto-Theater Essen, the Theater Chemnitz , the Städtische Bühnen Dortmund and the BalletMet in Columbus , Ohio. As a librettist he worked for the Deutsche Oper am Rhein , the theater and the Philharmonie Essen , the BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio and the Northern Ballet Theater in Leeds .

Since 2006 he has been the opera director at the Ulm Theater .
