Matthias Kröger (born May 24, 1969 in Bokel ) is a German motorcycle track racer on speedway and long-distance tracks .

Life

Through his uncle and cousin Timm Kröger, who was himself a successful B license driver, Matthias Kröger came to rail sports. He was nicknamed "Matten" because of his long hair. He began his career in 1985 in the J license and rose via the National B license in 1986 and 1987, in 1988 to the international license class. Kröger's career was interrupted in the late 1980s and early 1990s by a car accident and a racing accident on the Australia Tour in 1992, which meant he had to accept an eight-week hospital stay in Australia.

Kröger was five times long track team world champion, finished 3rd in the long track World Cup Grand Prix in 2000, started for Germany in the 2002 Speedway World Cup and was third in the grass track European championship in 2003. Nationally, Kröger has three runner-ups on the long track and two runner-ups on the speedway. In addition to the German Speedway Bundesliga (for MSC Brokstedt ), Kröger had engagements in the leagues of Poland , England , Denmark and Sweden . Kröger is also a sought-after engine tuner in the rail sport scene.

He is married and has two sons. His father-in-law is the former world-class German track racing driver Hans-Otto Pingel .
