Hans-Otto Pingel

Hans-Otto Pingel (born July 31, 1953 in Bokel / Pinneberg district ) is a former German sand track (long track) and speedway driver .

In 1976, Hans-Otto Pingel drove his first speedway race. From 1979 to 1986 he took part as a single driver in all German dirt track championships and was German runner-up in 1983 and 1984. He was also part of Team 70 from Brokstedt , which included multiple world champion Egon Müller and former long-track runner-up world champion André Pollehn . 1980 and 1981 he was with this team German team champion in the speedway.

He achieved his greatest successes on the long track as a single driver. In addition to the two German runner-up championships, he was in the world championship finals in 1981 and reached 8th place. In 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1986 he was able to qualify again for the world finals and achieved good placements.

With MSC Brokstedt he reached the Bundesliga finals in 1986 and was German runner-up with this team. Pingel celebrated his last great success in 2001 with the 5th place in the gold helmet final on the Teterower Bergring ( grass track ). In 2002 he started again after eight years of rest (Speedway) together with his son-in-law Matthias Kröger for MSC Brokstedt in the Speedway Bundesliga .
