from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matthias Johannes Müller-Strässler (born October 20, 1964 in Basel ; † July 1, 2016 in Münchenstein ) was a Swiss concert organizer.

Müller's career began with the Rheinknie Session , with which he performed jazz , gospel and blues in the 1980s . In 1998 a change of concept and name followed. With the AVO Session Basel, which later became the Baloise Session , he founded a stylistically more open series and thus had a wider audience.

Müller initiated a patrons' association for his festival, in which privateers and business people became active and invested in ensuring that world stars appear in the exhibition hall. He managed to bring artists such as Chris de Burgh , Ray Charles , James Brown and Die Fantastischen Vier to Basel. On July 1, 2016, Müller died of a serious illness and left behind a wife and two sons.
