Matthias Schulz (cultural manager)

Matthias Schulz (* 1977 in Munich ) is a German pianist and opera intendant .

Life

Schulz studied piano at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. From 1999 he worked for the Salzburg Festival , among other things as concert director . From March 2012 to April 2016, Schulz was commercial director and artistic director of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg. In June 2015, Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller announced that Schulz will succeed Jürgen Flimm as director of the State Opera Unter den Linden in 2018 .
