Matthias Sellmann

Matthias Sellmann (born March 3, 1966 in Neheim-Hüsten ) is a German Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1972 to 1976 he attended the St. Nicolai elementary school in Höxter and from 1976 to 1985 the König-Wilhelm-Gymnasium Höxter . From 1985 to 1986 he did the 15-month military service in Höxter and Hamm . From 1986 to 1988 he studied Catholic theology at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn as a member of the Leokonvikt . From 1988 to 1989 he completed a voluntary social year in the elderly in the Caritas nursing home in Herten . From 1989 to 1995 he studied Catholic theology at the University of Bonn (diploma in July 1994) and social sciences (examination in July 1995). From 1995 to 1997 he was a research assistant at the Catholic-Social Institute of the Archdiocese of Cologne (main focus: evaluation of the consultation process “On the economic and social situation in Germany” by DBK and EKD; political adult education; new conception of political-ecological adult education). From 1998 to 2009 he was a policy advisor at the Catholic Social Ethics Office of the DBK, Hamm, (focus: pastoral counseling on the basis of lifestyle analysis and religious sociology; addiction pastoral care; youth pastoral care). Since 2009 he has taught as a junior professor for pastoral theology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum , where he was appointed full professor in 2012 after a positive evaluation of the junior professorship and the acquisition of the qualification for a habilitation .
