The Collegium Leoninum - Archbishop's Theologenkonvikt Paderborn , in short: Leokonvikt or Leo , was the theologian convict of the Archdiocese of Paderborn in Paderborn . It was located at Leostraße 21 in Paderborn and existed from 1895 to 2019. By decree of the Archbishop of Paderborn, the legal entity "Theologenkonvikt zu Paderborn" was dissolved on December 31, 2019 and assigned to the Archbishop's seminary .

history

The first considerations to set up a Konvikt for the theology students of the Diocese of Paderborn go back to the 1830s. At that time the students lived in the extension of the seminary (today's theological faculty) and from 1860 to 1895 in the Heiersburg in Paderborn, founded by Konrad Martin (Bishop of Paderborn 1856–1879). The Leokonvikt was inaugurated on May 1st, 1895 by Bishop Hubert Theophil Simar . Since then it has been the theologian convict in the Archdiocese of Paderborn. Namesake is the then reigning Pope Leo XIII. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the bishopric of Pope Leo XIII. the Konvikt was named after him: Collegium Leoninum , Leo-Konvikt. Bishop Simar placed the Konvikt under the protection of the Saints Sturmius , Hathumar , Badurad , Liborius , Meinwerk and Meinolphus , but above all the Mother of God " Sedes sapientiae ( patronage December 8th)". The 2010/2011 academic year was preceded by a preparatory course for the first time.

After major renovations and renovations, the archdiocese's priestly training department moved completely to the archbishopric's seminary . The Konvikt is now used as a location for offices of various diocesan institutions.
