Heinrich Moritz Dolch , called Heimo, (born July 20, 1912 in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg , Leipzig , † April 2, 1984 in Bad Honnef ) was a German physicist , Roman Catholic theologian ( fundamental theology ) and priest.

Life

Dolch came from Leipzig and had been studying physics in Dresden and Leipzig since the end of 1930 . He completed this course in 1936 with a doctorate under Werner Heisenberg . Apparently Heisenberg's interest in theology was awakened, because immediately afterwards he began studying theology at the St. Georgen University of the Jesuits in Frankfurt am Main . His studies were interrupted by the war. After military service and imprisonment, he continued his theology studies in Paderborn and was ordained a priest on August 11, 1946. He held positions in Bochum and at the Paderborn Theologenkonvikt Leoninum . After completing his habilitation in Münster , he first worked as a lecturer, then as a professor at the Philosophical-Theological Academy in Paderborn, and became a lecturer for Catholic Weltanschauung at the University of Göttingen . On May 1, 1963, he was appointed full professor for fundamental theology, religious philosophy and border issues between theology and natural science at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn . From 1969 to 1981 he also served as director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the Görres Society, which he co-founded . He died on April 2, 1984 in Bad Honnef.

As a trained physicist, he first dealt with causality problems and endeavored to establish a dialogue between theology and the natural sciences. In this context he published works on Teilhard de Chardin and Galileo Galilei .
