Mattias Flink

Mattias Flink (born March 8, 1970 ) is a Swedish gunman or mass murderer . He became famous for his assassination attempt on June 11, 1994 in Falun , in which seven people were killed.

Circumstances and course of events

Flink was 24 years old at the time of the crime and was serving in the Dalarna regiment of the Swedish armed forces with the rank of second lieutenant , comparable to a first lieutenant . After an argument with his girlfriend and the consumption of a large amount of alcohol, he fired 51 rounds with his Ak 5 in the caliber 5.56 × 45 mm NATO . He killed five women and two men between the ages of 20 and 35.

Verdict and release

Flink was sentenced to life imprisonment for seven murders and three attempted murders. After the sentence was changed from life to 30 years, Flink was released on parole on June 11, 2014, 10 years before the regular prisoner and exactly 20 years after the offense.
