Mattias Sahlström

Erik Mattias Sahlström (born February 12, 1968 in Danderyd ) is a former Swedish basketball player .

Life

The 2.08 meter tall indoor player became Swedish champions in 1989 with Solna IF and then moved to Oklahoma State University in the United States for two years . There he ran from 1989 to 1991 in 58 games and scored an average of 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per encounter.

He then returned to Solna IF, where he played until 1993 and then moved to Kärcher Basket (later renamed New Wave Sharks) within the first Swedish league in Gothenburg . In 1994 and 1996 he won the Swedish championship with the team. In Gothenburg he was a leading player and recommended himself for tasks in the stronger European leagues. For the 1996/97 season he went to Greece to Iraklis Thessaloniki and joined the team in addition to the games in the country's first division also in the European club competition EuroCup .

In the 1997/98 season the Swede was under contract in the Italian Serie A with Olimpia Milan . From 1998 to 2001 he played for Olympique d'Antibes in the French premier league, his best point scoring of this time he recorded in the 1999/2000 game year 10.2 per bet. The 2001/02 season began Sahlström with a brief engagement at Heraklion Crete in Greece, then worked temporarily for Solna IF in his home country. In January 2002 he moved to France to STB Le Havre , played only three league games there and then went back to Solna. For this club the inside player was on the field until the end of the 2005/06 season, in 2003 he won his fourth and last Swedish championship with Solna.

National team

Sahlström made 225 international appearances for Sweden. At the European Championships in 1993 and 1995 he was the team's leading player.
