History and description
On February 15, 1930, the station went into operation with the opening of the south-eastern extension of line 10, which was then extended from the Odéon station via Place Monge to Place d'Italie . The section from Place Monge to Place d'Italie (from March 7, 1930 to Porte de Choisy ) has been used by line 7 since April 26, 1931.
The station has side platforms under an elliptical, tiled ceiling vault on two parallel tracks. As with all stations on Line 10 (with one exception), their platforms have the original Parisian standard length of 75 m.
Two entrances are on either side of the Rue des Carmes, which opens into Boulevard Saint-Germain, and a third entrance is opposite the confluence. All entrances have illuminated station signs with network maps and are marked by candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style with the word METRO.
To the east of the station, a double-track service line branches off in a curve in the middle between the main tracks , which then passes under the southern track. This route leads to the Place Monge station, where (and beyond) line 10 ran from January 15, 1930. The route was changed on April 26, 1931, and since then the line has been running over the outer tracks to Cardinal Lemoine .
To the west of the station, an operating track branches off the southern mainline track, which runs between the mainline tracks to - and through - the Cluny - La Sorbonne station and on to line 4 .
vehicles
Conventional MF 67 series trains run on Line 10 . Between 1975 and 1994 trains of the MA series ran , before that of the Sprague-Thomson type .
