Maud Molyneux

Maud Molyneux ( March 27, 1948 in Le Mans - September 16, 2008 in Paris ), also Louella Intérim or Dora Forbes , was a French actress, columnist and costume designer.

Life

Born as Marc Raynal into a male body, she grew up in a middle-class family and attended the private school École alsacienne in Paris. She then studied literature at the Sorbonne .

She was a member of the autonomous LGBT activist group Front homosexuel d'action révolutionnaire , which was founded in 1971. In 1972 she founded the splinter group Gazolines together with other trans women and transvestites . When this group also disbanded, she devoted herself to fashion and worked with the fashion designer Adeline André , among others .

In the 1970s and 1980s she became known for her columns in the magazine Façade and Liberation , which appeared under different names: as Louella Intérim she wrote a column on film, as Maud Molyneux on fashion and as Dora Forbes on literature. At the same time she was working as an actress. Later, in the 1990s and 2000s, she designed the costumes for several films, most of them directed by Pascal Thomas .

She was transgender and her demeanor played with gender norms in clothing and language. She spoke of herself in masculine form, but wanted to be addressed in feminine form by others.

At the age of 60, she was found dead in her Paris apartment.
