Edmund Maurice Burke Roche, 4th Baron Fermoy (born May 15, 1885 , † July 8, 1955 ) was a British nobleman and politician.

Life

He was the eldest son of the House of Commons James Roche, 3rd Baron Fermoy and his wife Frances Ellen Work.

He graduated from Harvard University in the United States with a Bachelor of Arts and served as a flight lieutenant in the Royal Air Force .

When his father died on October 30, 1920, he inherited his title of nobility Baron Fermoy , of Fermoy in the County of Cork . This title, belonging to the Peerage of Ireland, was not directly linked to a seat in the House of Lords , which is why Lord Fermoy could run for election to the House of Commons . From October 1924 to November 1935 and again from February 1943 to July 1945 he was a member of the House of Commons as a member of the Conservative Party for the constituency of King's Lynn in Norfolk . In 1931 he also served as Mayor of King's Lynn City.

Marriage and offspring

In 1931 he married the concert pianist Ruth Sylvia Gill (1908–1993). With her he had two daughters and a son:

When he died in 1955, his son Edmund inherited his title of nobility. His daughter Frances was first married in 1961 to Diana, Princess of Wales .
